New Year’s Day Swim

January

The Sarasota version of the polar bear dip, we like to start out every year with all our friends by jumping into Big Pass, swimming a few hundred yards, and then eating and drinking (spiked) coffee and hot chocolate. This is a LOT of fun, but the swim is not for everyone. You may prefer to wear a wetsuit. For your safety, you may also need to wear fins if you are not strong enough to negotiate the current across the pass. Just ask your coach if you have any questions. Plenty of teammates come out and cheer us on from the sea wall. Also, we always need support craft volunteers, so any kayakers, paddle boarders, and boat captains are doubly welcome. Check our calendar for specifics on this year’s event.
