Welcome to the Sarasota YMCA Sharks Masters, also known as the Adult Aquatic Fitness Program here at the Y. We are proud to be part of the YMCA family and affiliated with one of the top age group swim teams in the country, the Sarasota YMCA Sharks. Sharks Rule!
The age group Sharks have been around since 1961, so they have had plenty of time to rule the pool. But our Masters program is fairly new in comparison. Started in 2006 by Coach Rick Walker, SYSM has already garnered some impressive awards. We have quite a few swimmers who are ranked Top 10 in the country in their age groups, and some All Americans (ranked #1 in the country) as well. We have won several national championships within the YMCA organization and placed in the top 10 clubs in the U.S. at USMS national meets, including third place at the 2010 USMS Summer Nationals in Puerto Rico.
